Charter Band was founded in 1983 and was named for the celebration in that year of the 500th anniversary of the granting of the City of Gloucester's Royal Charter by Richard III.
Ever since then, we have been proud to play locally and across the region at high profile venues and charity events of all sorts. Despite declining memberships affecting all bands in the region, Charter Band has gone from strength to strength under its current conductors and is now the only community wind band in the county.
We are always on the lookout for new players and are always delighted to hear of prospective gigs - as a community band we draw our membership from the local area and support local events and fundraisers wherever possible.
